THE STATES OF MATTER

In this metaverse we are living conduits to joy, health, memory, and truth. Intersectional AF—we're this also.

With support from the Seattle People of Color Salon (SPoCS), the City of Seattle's Office of Art and Culture, and 4Culture's Tech Specific grant, we began with only 3 Prompts and held your responses within the context of art.

IN TACOMA APR 19 -MAY 12th!

AMBER FLAME

Imagines the harmonic between incarcerated women who might ride or die for their damn selves by witnessing their own stories. Everyday she does impossible things and secretly wishes to channel Beyonce.

NATASHA MARIN

Imagines real and digital platforms as spaces for Genuine Encounters. Her medium is people. Everyday she does impossible things and secretly wishes to be sent back to Africa.

RACHAEL FERGUSON

Imagines bottling the black joy that exists beyond the 9 to 5. Cheek-jaw-tummy-pain from laughter. Freedom that feels like a microphone. Everyday she does impossible things and secretly wishes for footie pajamas on casual Fridays.

IMANI SIMS

Imagines the Black Upside-Down, where dozens spill out like handfuls of salt dipped in shade and pan-dimensional spirits hover in memories calling themselves ancestors. She has many secrets, being black, blackety, black black, is not one of them.

Special thanks to white-identified comrades like ERIKA SCHULTZ, who add value with in-kind gifts of time, energy, and talent. We love your photos!
